A Career Built on Courtroom Excellence
Before earning his designation as a San Diego Certified Family Law Specialist, Damon built an impressive record as a prosecutor. From February 1998 to October 2001, he served as a Deputy District Attorney in San Diego County. There, he prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony cases, interviewed witnesses and victims, negotiated pleas, and conducted probable cause hearings. Furthermore, he gained extensive trial experience that continues to benefit his family law clients today.
Subsequently, from October 2001 to December 2003, Damon served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of California. He worked in the Border Crimes and General Crimes divisions, handling federal prosecution of immigration crimes, narcotics offenses, and fraud. Additionally, he maintained an active motion practice that included writing and arguing appeals before the Ninth Circuit.
Earlier in his career, Damon served as an Associate at Hillyer & Irwin in San Diego, where he worked within the business litigation practice group. There, he drafted dispositive motions, complaints, discovery requests, and responsive pleadings and handled depositions and other complex legal work.
Most recently, before joining Doppelt and Forney, Damon served as an Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Matthew M. Kremer. There, he focused on child custody and visitation cases as well as division of assets and debts.
