Many people ask me, "Roy, what happens in a consultation with an attorney and a potential new client?" and I tell them the first thing that the attorney should talk about are strategies and techniques to try to protect the client's legal rights and obtain their legal goals. Everybody's case is different, and no attorney can make a guarantee as to the outcome of the case because they are not the judge. But many attorneys can give you a realistic expectation of what the outcome of the case should be based on their education, training and experience.

0:00:42.6 S1: I often advise people that have set a consultation with me to bring in a list of their questions, because I found many people get nervous when they come to the attorney's office, they don't ask the questions that they would like, and then after they leave, of course, they don't have the chance. I would also suggest, if you're looking to hire an attorney, to do your independent research and try to find somebody who will put your interest ahead of their firm's interest.
