1. San Diego Superior Court Official Website for Information and Judicial Council Forms and Procedures for Divorce, Paternity and Legal Separation Cases

Whether your case is a divorce, legal separation or paternity, the San Diego Superior Court Website has many resources you can use and there is no charge to use the website. There are judicial council forms for legal separations, divorces and paternity cases which are up to date and approved for use in San Diego Superior Court for your family law case. Forms are available to file with the court to request custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, division of assets, division of debts, attorney fees and other family law motion requests. There are several links listed before and check to make sure current as they were as of the date of the writing of this article.

2. San Diego Public Law Libraries

There are several locations of San Diego Public Law Libraries for topics such as custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, division of assets and division of debts as well as many other family law topics. The Law Libraries are open to the public and no charge for entrance and there are multiple locations in San Diego County. This is an excellent resource for obtaining information and doing legal research

3. Bar Certified Referral Services in San Diego County

Consulting with an attorney can be one of the best resources. Before hiring an attorney, it is advisable to interview at least three local San Diego attorneys who are experienced in divorce, paternity and legal separation cases. The California Bar Association sanctions referral services and there is a partial listing below. These referral services all offer a referral to a qualified and experienced San Diego Family Law attorney and also included is a free 30 minute virtual consultation with the attorney. The attorneys are pre screened for legal experience in family law cases and also must meet several criteria. Availing yourself of this resource can prove invaluable in your pending family law case.

Google is recognized as the premier search engine. While many other search engines exist, Google is the undisputed leader for use on the internet. Google provides an excellent resource to obtain information. As with any resource, always verify. For example, if you search for “San Diego Divorce” many listings will appear. If you search “San Diego Divorce Attorney”, sometimes, there is a map which gives locations and also sometimes reviews are listing or ratings by google. It is recommended to [as with all] independently verify information. For family law, since so complicated both in law and procedure, a consultation with an experienced trusted reliable attorney is recommended.

5. Family Law Facilitator in San Diego Superior Court

As part of the San Diego Superior Court resources is a division known as the Family Law Facilitator. The Family Law Facilitator’s Office is located in all family law court houses in San Diego with the exception of the Madge Bradley court house which is serviced by the Family Law Facilitator at the main family law courthouse at 6th and Cedar downtown San Diego. This division assists self represented [pro per] litigants to fill out forms and with the procedural process. This is a at no cost and can be an excellent resource.

6. Better Business Bureau of San Diego

For decades, the Better Business Bureau has ben an excellent resource to finding companies which are legitimate and resolve complaints with clients under their guidelines. Before choosing a law firm, it is recommended that they are members of the San Diego BBB as, in the event of any issues between yourself and the law firm, they have an efficient and expedient resolution process and also verify the legitimacy of the law firm.
