2012: Holidays for San Diego Superior Court: Paternity, Divorce, Legal Separation and Nullity in the San Diego Court Houses

In San Diego, the San Diego Superior Court closes for holidays. Some are holidays you may not expect. These holidays can affect filing deadlines for pleadings. It is crucial to comply with the San Diego Superior Court local rules and these include deadlines for, example, responsive pleadings to order to show cause hearings for pre judgment orders for child custody, child visitation, child support, spousal support, attorney fees and costs, temporary exclusive use of a residence or vehicle and others. Failure to comply with the local rules can result in a negative ruling from the San Diego Superior Court Judge which can have nothing to do with the merits of your case. In addition, if you are filing yourself, it can be very frustrating to take the day off work to go to court only to find the Court closed.

These holidays are consistent for all San Diego Superior Court Houses including the main family law court house downtown, the Madge Bradley court house also in downtown San Diego, the Vista court house in North County, the Chula Vista court house in South Bay and the El Cajon court house in East County. In all of these court houses, there are family law departments which hear cases regarding legal separation, divorce, nullity and paternity.
